Explore stunning state parks. Nehalem Bay State Park offers biking trails, bird and wild life spotting, and plenty of sand dunes for jumping. The sparkling Pacific Ocean lies to the west of the park and Nehalem Bay to the east, making this the perfect spot for a fun-filled day with the whole family – leashed pups too!

Oswald West State Park is famous for its easy hiking trails, towering evergreens, and incredible views. A half mile walk west of the parking area, you’ll find the locally famous Short Sand Beach, a fantastic beach for watching surfers, tide pooling, exploring, sand castle building, and just plain fun!

Go fly a kite! Manzanita Beach, with its wide, sandy beach, is the perfect place to fly a kite. Looking for a local kite shop? Head to Bahama Mama’s Bikes, Boards and Beach Fare.

Look for oceanside treasures. When the tide is out, head to the tide pools located near the base of Neahkahnie, on the north end of Manzanita Beach. Here you can spot a variety of marine life in their natural habitat.

Treat yourself! Manzanita Sweets is jam-packed with a wide assortment of treats to indulge your sweet tooth. From hand-crafted chocolates, truffles and fudge, to salt water taffy and old-fashioned candy, there is something to satisfy every craving here!

Horseback rides. The beach from Neahkahnie, along Manzanita, to the end of Nehalem Spit makes for an ideal horseback-riding stretch. Explore the beautiful Oregon coastline, rugged dunes, and even spot the occasional whale – all on horseback! Oregon Beach Rides has experienced horses for all skill levels and mini horses to accommodate kids! Schedules are seasonal and they book up in advance, so make sure and call to inquire about availability.

Paddle time. Ready to try stand-up paddle boarding? Both Kayak Tillamook and SUP Manzanita offer lessons and guided tours of the scenic waterways, including the Nehalem River and Nehalem Bay. Already a pro paddler? Wheeler Marina rents single and tandem kayaks and paddle boards. Grab a kayak or paddle board and enjoy the stunning views from the water!

Catch some Oregon Dungeness Crab. Some do not consider a trip to the Oregon Coast complete without a crabbing excursion. The friendly team at Kelly’s Brighton Marina are passionate about crabbing and will make sure you and your family have a blast whether crabbing from the dock or their guided boat. They will also cook and clean your catch on-site if you wish to enjoy your fresh haul right then & there! The Marina also offers a front row seat to all the Steelhead trout and Chinook salmon you can catch (legally of course!). You can rent one of their boats or launch your own and explore some of the best fishing spots in the region.

Hit the Links! Golfers can practice their swing or play nine holes at Manzanita Links, which is located on a beautiful hillside facing the Pacific. The golf course now offers contactless online check-in and “Thank You Thursdays” – 9-holes for only $20 for all teachers, active military, police officers, firefighters, frontline healthcare workers, and public city employees.

Prefer a leisurely start to your morning? Stroll over to Yolk. This charming eatery is known for serving classics with a twist. Their mission is to serve quality food with passion and pride and it shows with menu items like gourmet scrambles, corn beef hash, and lemon ricotta pancakes. They also serve lunch. Open Friday through Monday, 8am – 12pm.

Plan a leisurely lunch. Hungry after a morning of exploring? Head to the historic San Dune Pub in the heart of Manzanita Village for hearty pub fare favorites like gourmet burgers, fish and chips, and fresh clam chowder. Please note this is a 21 and over pub, so children are not allowed, but you can place orders to go.

Fast, healthy, and fresh. Left Coast Siesta serves up Mexican comfort classics like tacos, burritos, and enchiladas in a laid-back, beachy counter-service space. They have outdoor seating, making this the perfect spot for a lunch break before heading back to the beach!

Surf and Turf. Big Wave Café proudly serves a locally focused menu of seafood, steaks, and gourmet burgers in a relaxed and comfy space. Make sure and leave room for a slice of their marionberry pie with a scoop of Tillamook vanilla ice cream!

Hit happy hour! The Winery at Manzanita welcomes your whole family – pups included – with incredible wines, fire pits, a tasting room, and an ocean view deck. Sit back, relax, and enjoy their wide selection of small batch PNW wines. Flights and glasses of wine, beer, and cider available. They also serve small bites and s’mores!

Make room for a whiskey nightcap. MacGregor’s Whiskey Bar serves craft cocktails, beer and wine, upscale small plates, and decadent desserts. However, their focus is whiskey with a selection of over 200 whiskey and whiskey-inspired liquors from all around the world. Come warm up from a long day on the beach with a flight of whiskey and one of their delicious cheese boards.
