Mountain Biking in Central Oregon

Central Oregon is a haven for cyclists of all types and has an extra-special place in the hearts of those who love to hit Mountain Bike Trails. Meredith Lodging Central Oregon vacation rentals in Bend, Sunriver and at Mt. Bachelor Village Resort make for a perfect home base for riders looking to explore all that the local trails have to offer – with many of our homes having trails right outside your front door! We have put together a shortlist of our favorite locations for you to consider the next time you #staywithmeredith.

Phil’s Trailhead

Phil’s Trail is an extremely popular, moderate, out, and back 12.4-mile trail easily accessible from Bend. The trail is primarily used for biking, hiking, trail running and dogs are allowed on the trail, too. Local’s Love Phil’s!

Swampy Trailhead

Swamp Trail connects to Phil’s and is a trail that starts high, and brings you right back to Bend. This trail can be enjoyed in an afternoon and features undulating hills and miles of forested single-track. IF you head out late in the day, make sure to bring lights.

Metolius Trailhead

This trail offers lots of beautiful views and high-country access to trails in places like Spark’s Lake, Todd Lake and the Flagline trail. Riders describe it as a great trail but one that can get soft and trodden by horses, especially where it comes close to Todd Horse Camp.

Tumalo Creek Trail

Riders rave about the section of trail that connects Skyliner Sno-Park and Tumalo Falls. Beautiful views, accessible for all levels of riders and considered and good warm-up for thioe planning to ride the North Fork trail.

Wanoga-Funner-Tiddlywinks Trailhead

Locals also love the Wanoga-Funner-Tiddlywinks loop. Most riders take the loop up Funner and down Tiddlywinks and many recommend doing the lop twice so you can ride it in both directions.

Peterson Ridge Trail East – Lower in Sisters

With its sinuous cross-country profile, the East Branch of the PRT is reminiscent of a mountain stream. Along with Nurse Logs and fantastic geological formations, this trail provides some stunning vistas. Just outside town, it meanders south then westward.

The East Branch connects to its western counterpart–the PRT West–via ridgeline “ladder rungs.” These spurs also offer exit points (or possible loop options). For those wanting to ride the entire Peterson Ridge Trail system from start to finish, check out our Description of the PRT Outer Loop
