A Classic Oregon Road Trip to Sunriver!

Road Trip to Sunriver, Oregon – Where to Stay and Things to See, Eat and Discover Sunriver is the very best of Central Oregon, all packed in to one beautiful, treasured resort community. It’s the perfect home-base for exploring all that the high desert has to offer…limitless outdoor recreation, miles of bike trails, the chance to swim in an alpine lake and those long sunny, Summer days and cool, crisp nights. If you know someone lucky enough to enjoy a Summer vacation in Sunriver, they will likely recall days spent riding bikes to The Village, swimming in the resort pools and trips to Goody’s for ice cream followed by evenings eating al fresco, relaxing in a hot tub under a sky filled with stars and collapsing into bed feeling the very best kind of tired. There is something for everyone to love about Sunriver – the absolute best of Central Oregon is right outside your door! From limitless outdoor recreation opportunities to shopping, dining, and discovering new things, Sunriver will always deliver. We have captured our best Sunriver trip itinerary – full of local inside scoop and travel tips – so you can plan your perfect Sunriver #staywithmeredith. Favorite Stops along the way to Sunriver Painted Hills, John Day Fossil Beds Ok, to be fair, this is more of an intentional detour than a “stop along the way” but wow, is it worth it! We love to leave the Portland area early in the morning and make it there by late morning, or leave in the afternoon, so we can see those hills awash in early evening golden light. No matter what time of day, this 3000+ acre geologic site will take your breath away! Part mini-Grand Canyon vibes, part other-worldly and ALL stunning it is easy to see why the Painted Hills are one of the Seven Wonders of Oregon. nps.gov Newberry Volcanic National Monument Central Oregon has a fascinating volcanic past and there is no better to place to appreciate all of it than the Newberry Volcanic National Monument. This recreational area is home to stunning vistas, many hiking trails, waterfalls, swimming lakes and natural hot springs. Looking out across the landscape from the 500 ft elevation point at Lava Butte (a 7000-year-old cinder cone) the views of Mt. Bachelor, Broken Top and the Three sisters will have your jaw dropping…almost as much as the sunset views from Paulina Peak (accessible by car). fs.usda.gov Swim and Lunch at Suttle Lake Lodge If you are headed to Sunriver Via Hwy 20, Suttle Lake is right on your way! Located just outside Sisters, OR, Suttle Lake Recreation Area makes for a picturesque stop on your way to Sunriver. The lake allows both motorized and non-motorized boating and has several spots perfect for a sunny Summer swim. After recreating a bit and working up an appetite, lunch at the Suttle Lake Lodge boat house (dining outside or to-go) is a wonderful place to refill before you continue to Sunriver. fs.usda.gov Where to Stay in Sunriver Maison du Poulet – Caldera You will feel as though you have reserved a private boutique hotel for your vacation when you step inside the door of stunning Maison du Poulet in the Caldera Springs neighborhood. No, really! Why Bend for Horseback Riding? Bend is considered a destination for vacationers interested in horseback riding because of its vast trail system and incredible scenery. 3 Ways to Maximize Your Central Oregon Vacation Rental

3 Ways to Maximize Your Central Oregon Vacation Rental

3 Ways to Maximize Your Central Oregon Vacation Rental Browsing the internet for vacation rentals in Central Oregon can sometimes be a mixed bag. On the one hand, you’re likely to find many suitable properties that come with desirable amenities. On the other hand, you may find yourself overwhelmed with too many options and disappointed to learn that not all vacation rentals can offer the same advantages. Thankfully, Meredith Lodging has a dazzling assortment of well-appointed accommodations offering seemingly unfettered access to several of Central Oregon’s most treasured natural assets in places like Bend, Sisters, and Sunriver. To give you an idea of what to consider when searching for your home away from home, we’d like to share three tips on how to maximize your Central Oregon vacation rental experience. Book Your Vacation Rental Direct with Meredith Lodging With the advent of Airbnb and other vacation rental juggernauts, it may be tempting to take a shortcut to find that perfect property. However, it’s hard to know what to expect when not working directly with your host. From hidden fees to unreliable amenities, booking with a massive online service can be somewhat of a gamble. When you reserve your vacation rental directly with Meredith Lodging, you’ll get peace of mind by working with local travel experts who know each property inside and out. Always Examine the Amenities and Property Types Not all vacation rentals offer the same amenities, so it’s essential to consider every option. While some places may offer a hot tub, that’s not the case at every property. Furthermore, even though we have many single-family homes, we also provide a collection of condo living spaces. It’s crucial to determine what type of rental will fit your needs to receive the best possible experience. Save Money on Food by Making Your Meals We all know that sampling local cuisine is a cornerstone to a successful vacation, but that doesn’t mean you have to eat out for every meal. A huge advantage to staying at a fully-equipped rental property is the ability to create your breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. The money you save by not constantly dining out will allow you to allocate your budget for recreation and entertainment. Few restaurants can offer the scenic beauty found from the comfort of your vacation rental dining room, patio, or deck. Central Oregon: A Worthy Vacation Destination Whether you’re coming from across the country or live elsewhere in the Beaver State, it doesn’t take long to realize why Central Oregon is an excellent place for an unforgettable getaway. With its towering mountains, sprawling forests, and sparkling waterway, this beloved region has a lot to offer. Known by many as an outdoor enthusiast’s playground, the area surrounding Mount Bachelor presents a myriad of options for those hoping to immerse themselves in nature’s bounty. Still, people who aren’t as enamored with kayaking, hiking, and fishing will undoubtedly find much tranquility amid this beautiful region. No matter your preferences, Meredith Lodging promises to provide extraordinary accommodations.
