Big Salmon, previously known as "Gone Fishin'"
This rustic, wood-paneled cottage has a dining room fronting the river with windows on three sides, giving you views up and down the majestic Siletz. You’re steps from one of the best Steel-head rivers in the state, with access to a floating dock where you can tie your boat (this cabin includes moorage for 1 boat), dangle your feet in the water, or enjoy the sunset. The cozy living room has a flat-screen TV/VCR/DVD plus a queen sleeper sofa. A permanent staircase lets guests climb to two twin beds under the eaves. There’s also a king bedroom with its own private bath. Outdoors, you’ll enjoy plenty of natural beauty, birdsong and a fire-pit under the stars. Big Salmon is just south of Lincoln City, so you have easy access to the restaurants, shops, and golf at Salishan, local glassblowing and pottery, the charming towns of Gleneden Beach and Depoe Bay and all the attractions of both Lincoln City and Newport. Whether you love fishing or just want to slow down and watch the river change direction with the tide twice a day, Big Salmon may be just what you need in your time away. For the best Steelhead fishing, book this home between December and April.

Reviewed on 2017-09-29 by Lucinda H. We completely enjoyed our stay in this little cabin on the river. The windows in the dining area provided great views of boats passing by, birds, and even seals. We especially enjoyed having the dock to fish from. We didn't catch anything, but enjoyed just sittin'. The cabin itself was very clean and well supplied. The bed was comfy and we slept well each night. The only suggestions I would make are: have an instruction sheet for how to operate the TV/VCR/DVD, make sure all remotes are working (one wasn't and needed batteries), and update the photos of the interior on the website (the little gas stove should be visible and the kitchen is different with the stairs). All in all, it was a wonderful little cabin and we hope to be back again one day.

Expect for the busy fishing boat traffic during the first part of the day, it is a very quiet and restful location. We are not fishermen, however this little place is ideal for those who are. Even if you do not fish, you will enjoy the gorgeous views and serenity. There is a cozy fire pit outside and a private dock on the water, as well. The cabin is not fancy, but it suits the location just fine. The bed in the master bedroom was exceptionally comfortable. The kitchen and bathrooms had everything we needed. The beach is a just a very short drive away -- so, this is the perfect location to enjoy not only the river, but also the sea. We will return, hopefully for a longer stay.

Some things to watch for: The loft is accessed by a pull-down ladder (fine for our teenage grandsons, but we would have had some difficulty);there are no knives sharp enough to fillet fish, so bring your own if you plan to catch anything; also a bucket for your catch might be nice. All-in-all, very nice - comfortable, spotless, generally well equiped.
