There is a reason that the line out the door is filled with locals and visitors alike – this is some seriously delicious coffee! Caution is required when exploring this state recreation area, but as long as you explore safely you will be rewarded with sandy beaches and gorgeous views. Hug Point is a name with a historic background. Before the highway was built, this beach trail was the only way for beach goers to head south, by stagecoach. At low tide you can even walk along the original stagecoach road and see the wheel ruts. A lovely place to stop for a picnic with a view!
This moderate 5.5-mile loop requires a little planning ahead in terms of tide tables, so make sure you depart and plan your return when the tide is at its safest levels. All that planning will be rewarded as you traverse through old growth forest, explore beautiful Cove Beach, and take in the views of Gulf Rock and Castle Rock.
