Mt. Bachelor Ski Area & Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort 

Located just 22 miles from Bend, Mt. Bachelor boasts more than 4,300 acres of lift-accessible terrain and the highest skiable elevation in Oregon. The mountain is easy to reach, dumps an average of 462 inches of snowfall each year, and has one of the longest ski seasons in North America – November through May! For the 2025‑26 season, Mt. Bachelor is projected to open on November 28, 2025, conditions permitting

The slopes of Mt. Bachelor boast some of the best skiing and snowboarding in Oregon – whether you are a beginner or an expert. Experts will enjoy a variety of steep runs and challenging terrain parks, while beginners can gain confidence on their gentle downhill slope. Lessons are always available, and ski and snowboard rentals are available. 

Not into shredding downhill? Weave through Mt. Bachelor’s 56 km of groomed Nordic trails that weave through the Deschutes National Forest, including easy loops for beginners, and double diamonds with 600-foot elevation gains for experts.  

Traveling with your favorite furry family member? Explore the dog-friendly groomed trails at Wanoga Sno-park. Dogs are also allowed on the ungroomed trails at Skyliner, Edison and Kapka Butte Sno-Parks.

Hoodoo Ski Area & Hoodoo Ski Resort

Looking for a fun and affordable day on the mountain? Head to Hoodoo Ski Area – 44 miles west of Bend – for Thrifty Thursday ski pass deals, free skiing for kids aged 7 and under, and night skiing!  

Major Upgrades for the 2025‑26 Season and Beyond

Mt. Bachelor is rolling out significant improvements for the 2025‑26 winter season and beyond. The biggest news is the Northwest Lift modernization project, which began construction in spring 2026. This project includes replacing the top and bottom operator shacks, upgrading electric drive components, expanding chair storage, and installing a night drive system that spins the haul rope without chairs to fight ice buildup. The improvements are expected to be completed by fall 2026, in time for the 2026‑27 ski season.

Freestyle riders will also see major updates in the Woodward Mountain Parks, including a new beginner terrain park off Little Pine and a reimagined terrain park next to the 13‑foot halfpipe under Pine Marten lift. Additionally, Mt. Bachelor is opening new rental and retail locations in Bend and Sunriver, with season‑long rentals available at record‑low prices starting at $199 for adults and $109 for youth. A new wood‑fuel energy facility, expected to be fully operational by fall 2026, will convert slash piles from the Deschutes National Forest into heat for base area buildings, reducing propane usage and CO2 emissions
